A modern 24/7 veterinary hospital in Leeds is seeking a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join its large, multidisciplinary clinical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a vet who thrives in a supportive hospital environment with consistent shift patterns, strong clinical backup, and access to advanced cases across medicine, surgery, ECC, and referral pathways.
Role Details:
- 24 hours per week
- Salary up to £36,000 pa (equivalent to £60,000 FTE, DOE)
- Fixed weekly schedule:
- Wednesday: 9:00–18:00 (30-min sick pet consults)
- Thursday: 9:00–20:00 (30-min sick pet consults)
- 1 in 4 weekends, with shifts of 7:30–18:00, 9:30–20:00, or 10:00–20:30
Weekend work is focused exclusively on ECC and booked emergency consults, supported by a full clinical team.
Three vets are on each shift as standard, ensuring shared caseload management across inpatients, emergency appointments, ECC procedures, and surgeries.
Weekend teams are structured to balance experience in surgery, consulting, and internal medicine.
Training, Support and Development:
- In-house certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry
- £1,000 annual CPD allowance (certificate sponsorship encouraged)
- Proactive clinical development team with regular in-house training
- 70-person hospital team, including 15 vets
The hospital welcomes applicants with a background or strong interest in ophthalmology, dermatology, or feline medicine, with opportunities to develop these into growing referral services.
With 19 surrounding practices feeding into the hospital for OOH and referral work, there is substantial scope for caseload expansion.
Part-time applicants who wish to supplement hours with locum work are also supported.
