Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Oxfordshire

The RCVS-accredited Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital is in a phase of expansion and is actively seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with a particular focus on internal medicine to complement their esteemed team. Nestled on the outskirts of a charming Cotswold market town, this purpose-built hospital is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and staffed by a collaborative team comprising 15 Veterinary Surgeons, 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 5 Student Registered Nurses, and 5 Animal Nursing Assistants.

Within this dynamic environment, the veterinary team includes specialists such as a Specialist in Zoo & Wildlife Medicine, Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Medicine and ECC, and regular visits from a referral dermatologist. The hospital is recognized for receiving national referrals for exotic pets, radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroid cats, outpatient CT scanning, and various internal medicine and orthopedic surgery cases.

The hospital boasts comprehensive facilities, including full lab capabilities, a DR x-ray system, dental x-ray, a 64-slice CT scanner, flexible and rigid endoscopes, ultrasound scanner with color Doppler, a complete orthopedic kit, slit lamp, tonometer, and more.

To maintain a healthy work/life balance, the full-time rota is structured as 8:30 am - 7:00 pm for four days a week, with one in five Saturday shifts from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm and one in more than ten on-call commitments. Recognizing the diverse demands and priorities of their team members outside of their careers, the hospital offers flexibility in rota patterns, making it easy for individuals to strike the right balance.

The hospital places a premium on employee well-being, offering a range of benefits such as a competitive base salary, 6.6 weeks of annual leave, a paid day off on the employee's birthday, private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly policies, and a Cycle to Work scheme. Furthermore, the hospital invests in professional development with a £1250 CPD allowance, certificate support, and opportunities for research funding. Additionally, there are various membership covers, including BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees, as well as attractive perks like the Pawsome Benefits reward gateway and discounted staff pet care. The hospital takes pride in its commitment to fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment for its dedicated veterinary professionals.
